COME, GROW WITH US!
Purchased in 1980 by a handful of Elkhorn families, St. Augustine's original church property consisted of a carriage house, stables, a shed and the two and a half acres of land. Through the hard work and generosity of our "founding fathers", the property was remodeled; and in 1983, the barn became a church.
As the years had passed, the size of our congregation would ebb and flow. At times there was no priest. There were difficult periods when it looked as though St. Augustine’s might not survive. But our close-knit parishioners were resourceful and innovative, and slowly but surely, the congregation grew. In 1997, an addition was built adjoining the carriage house, which was transformed into our current parish hall.
A strong, involved laity helped increase the size of our congregation from 42 households to 60 households in the 5-year period from 2003 and 2008, growth primarily attributable to the influx of young families enticed by the Godly Play program for children and other family-oriented activities.
We continue to grow, and are currently expanding our parking lot and adding Godly Play classrooms.
We invite you visit us this Sunday and see how we've grown!
