Fr. Mark's Announcements for Thursday, September 2, 2010

1) My sincere THANKS to all who have called, stopped in, or sent good wishes following my bicycle accident last Saturday. It was quite a surprise, actually, to wake up in the Emergency Room at Creighton, getting stitches and a CT scan. In the end, it was a simple concussion and lots of 'road rash' to the face. I don't have any memory of the accident, but do know it would have been much less severe had I been wearing a helmet, which I was not. Anyway, I'm back to work and really feel pretty good, just a little more confused than normal and my face hurts like heck. Lesson learned for sure. I totally appreciate all the positive thoughts and prayers.

2) Our Nebraska vs. Texas Skybox Ticket Fundraiser is going great! Ticket sales are well ahead of last year, and we are hoping for a sellout -- which would raise over $20,000!! If you have sold your tickets and need some more, just call or stop by the office and Kathy or Theresa will set you up. These tickets are selling themselves, as every Husker fan in the area would give anything to sit in these seats for this momentous game. Thanks to the Werners for their generous donation, of the seats, to the Fundraising committee for all their hard work, and to all of you for inviting your friends and families into this great event!

3) Don't forget to mark Sunday, September 19th on your calendars -- when we will gather for "Worship in the Garden" at 10:00AM. Pets are invited to join us for worship this day (but not to receive communion -- I have to draw the line somewhere) and we will be having our annual Pet Blessing as a part of this service. Bring lawn chairs & blankets, and dress comfortably. After worship, drop your pets off at home and then head out to the Murray's KOA campground for our annual Fall Picnic. Kathy will have details about food and drink and directions. This is going to be a day to remember!

Kathy’s Announcements

1].  Please note that attached to this email is the September Calendar and the September Schedule of Duties.  We suggest that you print these at home and keep them near your regular calendar for quick reference.  Always refer to the calendar on our website for any updated changes.

2]  Plans for the 2nd Annual Kick-Off Picnic at KOA Campground are underway.     Within the next 10 days, I’ll send out an electronic invitation and you may respond that way to let us know how many to expect.  Just as last year, Eric and Carrol Murray have graciously offered to serve as hosts and will provide  the paper plates, flatware, napkins, hot dogs and buns for the kids along with condiments, and they will also provide lemonade, ice tea and water.  All are welcomed to bring the beverage of their own choice which includes beer.

Also like last year, we ask everyone to bring a dish.  If your last name begins with the letters A-F, we ask that you bring pulled pork, sliced pork, or ham;  if your name begins with the letters G – N, we ask that you bring a cold salad;  if your name begins with the letters O-S, we ask that you bring a dessert; and if your name begins with the letters T-Z, we ask that you bring a cold veggie/relish tray with dip.    If you are a vegetarian, we ask that you bring some type of vegetarian casserole to share with others.  Maggie Ralles as offered to supply all the buns.     Finally, you should also plan to bring your own folding chairs.

If you did not make it to last year’s picnic, you’ll want to know that there is a variety of fun games, and activities available for all ages including:

*swimming pool      *jumping pillow       *miniature golf        *horse shoes             *shuffleboard            *peddle cars           * playground

Hope to see everyone there.

3]  Also, Restaurant Revelers will be meeting on Friday,  Sept. 10th at 6:00pm at Brewskys [154th & Q].   If you have never been there, it’s a fun sports bar with good food and good friends.  If you think you can join us, please email Betsy Chase so she has an idea of how many will attend:  DONCHASENE@aol.com
